Sunset, a DJ, and Two Hours on New York Harbor
An evening sailing past both East River bridges and out to the Statue of Liberty, with a live DJ on the top deck.
The Grande Mariner leaves Pier 36 on the Lower East Side, turns south into New York Harbor, and is back at the same slip two hours later. A DJ works the top deck under the blue canopy. Inside, the lounge has sofas, banquettes and air conditioning, with windows running the length of the room.
Nothing is included past the sailing itself. Drinks and snacks are sold on board, and everything you order is paid for there. Ages five and up pay the same fare, and the operator boards children under four free if you arrange it in advance.

The calendar does not carry a sailing every evening. October dates land on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; from early November it is Friday and Saturday only. Boarding opens 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. The dock is behind the Pier 36 building, not in front of it — follow the path around to the back, where the boat sits at slip #9 on the right side of the pier. Several companies run boats off this pier; look for the NYC Water Cruises signage and staff.
The vessel does not wait past its departure time, and the operator's own fix for a missed sailing is a phone call to see whether a later one has room. Pier 36 has a paid lot on the premises, but the operator does not run it, will not guarantee a space, and tells drivers to allow at least thirty extra minutes for parking and the walk out to the boat. There is a marked drop-off area for ride-shares.

The boat leaves Pier 36 and is under the Manhattan Bridge within minutes, then the Brooklyn Bridge, then down around the Battery and out toward Liberty. It docks nowhere along the way — the whole two hours is one loop back to the same slip.
The return leg is when the skyline lights up. Lower Manhattan comes on while you are still on the water, and the bridges arrive one at a time.
Top deck or indoor lounge

The top deck is where the music is and where nothing blocks the view. It is also open to the wind, and open water runs colder than the street.
The lounge inside has sofas, banquettes, air conditioning and windows along both sides. The boat has more decks than these two, and it is worth confirming which ones your ticket opens when you book.
Drinks, snacks, and the 21 rule
Cocktails, beer, wine and soft drinks are sold on board, along with light snacks. None of it is in the fare. Alcohol needs a valid ID and 21 years.
Outside food does not come aboard unless it was pre-approved for a medical or dietary need, and the operator wants that request at least 48 hours ahead by email. Smoking is out everywhere on the vessel, indoors and on deck.
Getting to Pier 36
🚇 The F train to East Broadway is the closest subway. Take the Rutgers Street and Madison Street exit, walk east toward the water, turn left onto South Street, and Pier 36 sits just north of the Department of Sanitation building.
From Midtown the operator puts the pier at about 3 miles and 15 to 20 minutes by car. From Times Square it is roughly 4.3 miles and about 22 minutes. From Jersey City, the PATH to the World Trade Center and a short transfer works.
Boarding is a ramp off the pier and its angle moves with the tide; the operator says it can pass 45 degrees at some water levels. Its accessibility page goes further: none of its vessels are ADA-compliant, guests need to be able to walk aboard with assistance, and the boat it recommends for wheelchair users is a different one in the fleet. The listing is marked wheelchair accessible; the ramp is the part it does not describe. Call before booking if this matters.
Cancellation runs through the platform you book on: a full refund needs at least 24 hours' notice, and nothing comes back inside that window. Sailings go rain or shine.
The boat ties up back at Pier 36 two hours after it left, which puts you on the Lower East Side with the evening still going.
