Stout (Florence) Park
4.6 (45)park
A Hyde Park green born of community action, with twin playgrounds, a ball diamond, and space for a leisurely walk.
Description

Set along South Greenwood Avenue, the grounds furnish play areas with swings, slides, and climbing equipment. The parcel originated in a 1950s urban renewal plan shaped by civic groups working to promote racial integration and halt decay, taking shape after the city cleared the land and vacated a portion of 54th Place. Longtime neighbor Florence Stout organized block clubs and served on the Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference board, prompting hundreds of residents to petition in 1998 to name the playlot in her honor.
