Description

The battlefield preserves the site where one of the bloodiest conflicts of the American Civil War took place between December 31, 1862, and January 2, 1863. Along with informative exhibits that trace the engagement, the grounds encompass the Stones River National Cemetery, which serves as the final resting place for thousands of Union soldiers.
