Stevens Clubs Serve Tacos, Fries, and a Saturday Chess Tournament

Five Stevens club events run from September 29 to October 6. The campus calendar pins down most of the times and rooms, and says nothing at all about cost.

Mass on Tuesday in a Borrowed Classroom

Fr. Jarek says Mass on campus on Tuesday evenings in North Building 104, and the room is an ordinary classroom with the whiteboards still up. A folding table becomes the altar.

Both listings here belong to one weekly series, so take whichever Tuesday suits you. The campus calendar gives the hour as 7:00 to 8:00 and adds a single line: all are welcome.

That line is the only welcome on record. Nothing published by Stevens or by Newman Catholic says whether it extends to visitors from off campus, so check with the group before you plan around it.

A Tournament and Two Late Nights

Three other club events sit around those Tuesdays. Two run late and one runs at eleven on Saturday morning. The campus calendar pins down when each one starts. What any of them costs is written down nowhere official, so carry a card.

  • Taco Night and the Gospel, Wednesday September 30, 9:15 to 10:30 PM. Christian Fellowship runs it as a weekly gathering with a talk and discussion. The club's flyer for this date puts it in Babbio 104, and its standing Wednesday meeting sits one floor of numbering away in Babbio 122. Try 104 first.
  • Stevens Chess Club Weekly Tournament, Saturday October 3, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Babbio 210. The calendar entry reads: all Stevens students and chess levels welcome.
  • French Fry Night, Saturday October 3, 7:45 PM until two in the morning on the UCC North and South Plaza. The listing calls it a Sigma Delta Tau fundraiser for PCAA, which is the only hint on this page that money changes hands.

That last one runs latest, and the plaza is outdoors. Dress for it.
