Steve’s Backhouse

This 500-square-foot outbuilding and art studio in Melrose Hill functions as a creative workspace for ceramicist and former TV writer Stringer. Inside, handcrafted wood tables, matching mushroom lamps, and a cobalt blue Ikea shelving unit mix the feel of a kindergarten classroom and a museum gallery. Stringer programs a monthly slate of creative workshops, including the signature Tattoo a Mug class where participants decorate hand-spun red clay mugs in a patchwork tattoo style.
