Description

The park was established through a private bequest from Robert in memory of his late wife, Mary Force, with the explicit purpose of creating a playground for the children of Washington, D.C. Today, the grounds operate as a public space administered by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, sustained in part by funding from Robert's original private trust alongside community efforts from Friends of Stead Park.
