Description

The facility houses a gym, auditorium, and multipurpose classrooms. Originally built in 1940 as a pre-fabricated building within a recreation complex for Kaiser shipyard workers, the structure was dismantled after the war and hauled piece by piece on flatbed trucks to its location two blocks from downtown St. Johns. It was set at the edge of a large cherry and prune orchard, where some of the old fruit trees still stand on the grounds.
