Spend One Carlsbad Day Becoming a Certified Reiki Practitioner
A single day takes you from never having tried Reiki to holding a First Degree certificate, with hands-on practice built into the afternoon.
Most people who sign up for a Reiki Level 1 class arrive with the same quiet worry, which is that everybody else in the room will already know what they are doing. The shape of this one takes that off the table. It runs eight and a half hours in a single day and ends with a certificate naming you a Reiki First Degree Practitioner.
Marcela Alva teaches it. Her own site lists her as a Reiki Master Teacher since 2008, with more than eighteen years of teaching behind her, and the day moves the way a first day should move: what Reiki is and where it came from, then the attunement, then your own hands on an actual person.

Bookings on this listing are private and capped at four travellers, and confirmation is instant. The class meets at the auditorium inside the Carlsbad Senior Center on Pine Avenue, where a sign by the door is marked Reiki Training.
Reiki 1 Transformative Training ExperienceEight and a half hours of Reiki First Degree training in Carlsbad, with an attunement ceremony, a live sound healing bath, and practice time on massage tables.www.viator.comThe Attunement Is the Part You Cannot Read

The attunement ceremony is the hinge of a Level 1 class, and it is the one piece that has to be done in person. In this one it is paired with sound. You receive a sound healing bath during the attunement, played on crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, drums and other instruments.
The stated reason for the bowls is practical rather than decorative: the sound is there to settle your system so it is open to receive the attunement. Whatever you make of the mechanism, it means the ceremony is something you lie down for, not something you watch.
Then You Put Your Hands on Somebody

The back half of the day is practice, and the listing is specific about the setup. Massage tables are provided for practice time, and you both give and receive several Reiki sessions over the course of the class. Working in pairs is how the hand positions stop being a diagram and start being muscle memory.
The curriculum Marcela publishes for her First Degree class covers the complete hand placement system, chakra clearing, healing with crystals, clearing a house of stagnant energy, shielding yourself from outside energy, and Reiki on pets. The history of the practice, the Reiki principles and the three degrees are covered too, so you leave knowing where Level 1 sits in the sequence.
What You Carry Out the Door
This is a certification class, so the take-home list is part of what you are paying for. You leave with a Reiki manual, a First Degree certificate, and seven chakra crystals. The listing states that at the end of the class you are able to give Reiki treatments to yourself, to other people and to your pets.
Two things continue after the day ends. Marcela includes mentorship on building your own practice, and the booking covers monthly Reiki circles for continuing education. Her free online Reiki circle runs every third Tuesday of the month from 5:30 to 6:30 pm Pacific over Zoom, which is a low-cost way to keep practising once the certificate is on the shelf.
Who the Day Is Built For
First Degree is the entry point of Reiki, and the class is taught from the beginning. Marcela's own write-up on the practice is blunt about the prerequisites: there are no doctrines or creeds to follow, and you do not need to believe anything in particular to learn it and use it.
The booking is adults only — the age bands on this listing run from 18 upward, with no child or youth band. The operator rates the day as suitable for all physical fitness levels and lists the venue as wheelchair accessible, with all areas and surfaces accessible and public transport nearby. Instruction on this listing is in English.
Booking closes four hours before the start time, so this is not a plan you can pick up the same morning. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund, and the ticket is mobile, one per booking.
📍 The class meets at the auditorium in the Carlsbad Senior Center, 799 Pine Ave, Carlsbad. Marcela asks you to text her your email address once you have booked so she can send the reading material through before the day. Do that part early and you walk in having already started.
