🧛 The Saturday Program

🎬 What Runs That Day

Monster Mash gives the Academy Museum a single Saturday built around movie vampire lore, running special effects demonstrations, guided tours, and costumed creature appearances through the day. Staff walk visitors through how prosthetics, fangs, and old age makeup get built for camera. The program starts at eleven in the morning on Saturday, October 24, and rolls in blocks rather than one long session. The regular galleries stay open, and the day program sits on top of them.

💀 Inside the Galleries

The museum keeps its permanent floors running, including the hair and makeup vanity display where visitors see the tools used on set. Creature performers move through the public spaces at intervals, which turns hallways into unplanned photo stops. Most of the day programming happens on the lower gallery floors and the theater level, a short loop from the entrance. Families cluster near the demonstration tables, and the crowd thins on the upper floors.

🎟️ Arrival and Tickets

Saturday, October 24 opens at eleven in the morning at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Museum admission covers the day, and timed entry books out on weekends. The garage under the building charges separately from admission, and street parking on Wilshire runs tight by midday. It fits families and anyone who likes seeing craft explained in person. If you were expecting a costume party, this is a daytime museum program.
