Snorkel With Crystal River's Manatees, or Watch From the Boat
A three-and-a-half-hour trip from American Pro Diving Center, with wetsuit and snorkel gear included and three departures a day.
American Pro Diving Center is a Crystal River dive shop that also runs scuba classes and spring dives, and this trip starts and ends there. Check-in, a full 3mm wetsuit with mask, fins and snorkel, and a presentation on how to behave around manatees all happen at the shop before anyone gets wet.
Guests then drive their own cars behind the in-water guides to the docks, a short trip away. The marina charges a five dollar parking fee that the ticket does not cover. From there the boat heads out on the spring-fed water of Crystal River with a US Coast Guard-certified captain.

As of October 28, 2026, the listing below sells one ticket type at USD 65 per person, covering ages 1 to 99, with starts at 7:00 AM, 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM. Bookings close 18 hours before the start time. The listing shows 315 reviews averaging 4.8 out of 5.
The operator points to the 7:00 AM start for watching the manatees' morning activity. Its own site lists the same three start times for its Classic Manatee Tour and recommends reserving ahead, saying tours fill up fast.

Snorkelers float in their wetsuits while an in-water guide, the operator's Divemaster, keeps the encounter safe for people and manatees. The operator's tour page says expert swimming is not required, though participants should feel comfortable in the water, and flotation devices are available for extra support.
The guide also records the swim. The footage is sold afterward on a flash drive at the shop, listed as an extra. One reviewer on the listing, writing in April 2026, said the trip ran a little over three hours and that wetsuits, masks, snorkels and hot cocoa were provided.
Riders Stay Dry Under the Boat's Cover

Guests who would rather not swim can join as boat riders and stay aboard while the snorkelers are in the water. The boats are covered against rain, and hot chocolate comes out on cold days.
Wetsuits come in every size from toddlers, age two and up, to adult 5X. The ticket starts at age one, but the smallest wetsuit fits age two. The listing requires children to be accompanied by an adult. The operator's site calls this a family-friendly tour with no age restrictions, with minors under a parent's or guardian's supervision.
Winter Crowds, Summer Searches
The operator calls November through March the peak season, when manatees gather in the warmer spring water, and says sightings are possible year-round. It describes the springs of Crystal River as a constant 72°F.
Summer trips involve more searching. A reviewer on the listing who went in August 2026 wrote: "It’s summer, so not manatee season, but they make sure to know the spots where you’ll still get an encounter." That group stayed with a mother and her calf for 30 minutes.
What to Confirm Before Booking, and What the Ticket Leaves Out
The listing marks the tour wheelchair accessible, including its surfaces and transportation, and suitable for all physical fitness levels. It also allows service animals and says specialized infant seats are available. The operator's own tour pages mention none of these. Anyone who uses a wheelchair should call the shop at (352) 563-0041 before booking.
