Melody Skates and Tracy's Legacy hold their fourth Domestic Violence Awareness Month meetup at Lincoln Terrace Park on Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, raising money for groups that support survivors, including the North Brooklyn Coalition Against Family Violence. Entry is free with a suggested 5 dollar donation. A beginner skate lesson starts at 1:30 PM, then the 2:00 PM self-defense workshop with Malikah takes only 40 people who RSVP ahead and sign a waiver on the day. A healing circle and meditation follow at 3:00 PM. A DJ plays all afternoon, and a free community market runs alongside. Bring your own skates and safety gear. On-site rentals are limited.
