Sixty Minutes at the Bench, and the Honeycomb Goes Home
Pick your glass from the studio's trays, solder the seams yourself, and carry the finished suncatcher out the same day.
Stained glass is usually sold as a commitment. The studio behind this workshop says so in its own listing: very few classes run in the United States, and fewer still that ask for less than several weeks and several hundred dollars.
This is the one-hour version, and the piece leaves with you the same day. TLC Stained Glass is an art studio and gallery in Santa Fe, and absolute novices are the expected audience. No drawing experience is assumed.

The hour follows the order of the craft. You select from dozens of types of art glass, then bind the pieces into one honeycomb with techniques developed by Tiffany and others more than a century ago.
Tools and all safety gear come with the booking, and one session holds twelve travelers. Ages ten and up.

Dozens of types of art glass are on hand, and choosing among them is the part of the design that is yours. The honeycomb format is what the session builds, so color and texture are where most of the difference between two finished pieces comes from.
The cutting is done before you sit down. A traveler wrote on Viator in May 2025: "Beginner class was easy to do because all the glass pieces were precut."
The Same Studio Takes Commissions and Repairs

Workshops are one part of what happens in this room. The studio's main work is custom stained glass panels for homes, along with repairs and restorations, and the teaching runs alongside that.
That changes what a one-hour class feels like. The tools on your table are the shop's working tools, and the person walking you through the solder does this for a living.
Who Can Stand at the Table
The studio publishes what it can accommodate. All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible, and service animals are allowed. Public transportation options nearby are accessible as well.
The workshop asks for one thing physically. Everyone stands for the full hour on a padded mat, and the studio rates it as suitable for all fitness levels. It is not recommended for pregnant travelers.
One detail is worth sending ahead. If anyone in your party is under five feet tall, tell the studio when you book, and a shorter table can be set out.
Booking, Cancelling, and the Flight Home
Confirmation is instant once the booking goes through, and a mobile or paper ticket is accepted. Same-day bookings close at 8:00 AM.
Cancel at least twenty-four hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window there is no refund.
The piece travels. The studio states plainly that the finished suncatcher can go on a plane, which is the question most visitors have on the way out.
📍 The studio is at 1730 Camino Carlos Rey, Suite 100, a short distance from downtown Santa Fe. The listing tells you to use the building door code and come downstairs to find #100. The workshop starts and ends in the same room.
An hour is short enough to sit inside an afternoon that already has other plans in it. You walk out with the honeycomb in hand.
