Sixty Masked Guests Follow the Phantom Through His Opera House

Masquerade turns The Phantom of the Opera into a walk through the Paris Opera House, with the cast an arm's length away.

Masquerade is a staged version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera that you walk through. Tony winner Diane Paulus directs, and the producer is Randy Weiner, whose earlier credits include Sleep No More and The Box.

Guests go in as a group of sixty and move from room to room inside a recreated Paris Opera House, with the score and the cast around them. The listing puts the evening at about two hours. It all happens at 218 West 57th Street in Midtown.

This listing sells General Admission with a fixed entry time. Matinee entries are at 1:15 PM or 1:45 PM, evening entries at 7:15 PM or 7:45 PM, and the days vary week to week. One booking takes up to nine people, and every guest must be 13 or older. Taxes and fees are already in the listed price.

As of November 5, 2026, the earliest open entry on this listing was December 8, 2026. The calendar fills unevenly, so check the date you want before you plan around it.

Your Password Is the Ticket

There is no paper ticket. You get a secret password 24 hours before your entry, and everyone in your party needs it to get in. Bring a valid photo ID as well.

Plan to arrive 15 to 30 minutes early. Doors open at your scheduled entry time, and latecomers are not admitted. All sales are final, so a missed entry cannot be refunded or exchanged.

Black, White or Silver, and a Mask

A black, white or silver mask is required for entry. Lace or half-face masks are welcome. LED masks, Phantom masks, full-face masks, celebrity faces and political imagery are not. If you arrive without a suitable one, you get a complimentary mask at the door, and it fits over glasses.

Black, white or silver clothing is the dress code, and formal or elevated eveningwear is encouraged, though not required. A limited number of cloaks can be borrowed if your outfit does not fit. Stilettos are not allowed. Wear shoes you can walk and climb in.

Stairs, Escalators and Haze

The listing marks this experience as wheelchair accessible and suitable for all fitness levels. The production describes it differently. Guests climb and descend several flights of stairs, up to thirty steps between floors, ride escalators, and may stand or keep moving for more than thirty minutes at a time. Haze and strobe light are used.

Elevator access exists, but it has to be scheduled ahead with the accessibility team at access@masqueradenyc.com. A traveler wrote on this listing in October 2026 that you need to prepare for a lot of standing and walking from room to room.

The Bubbles at the Door and the Lake Bar

Bags of any kind stay outside the performance. Bag and coat check is free at entry. Each guest gets a glass of bubbles or a non-alcoholic sparkling drink on arrival, and water is available throughout. Outside food and drink are not allowed.

Photos and recording are off during the performance. The evening ends in the Lake bar, where guests are invited to take pictures, and a full-service bar is open at the end. Anyone under 16 must come with an adult.
