Six Weeks From First Joke to a Live Showcase
A six session stand-up course at Just The Funny builds material week by week and ends with a live student showcase.
🎤 The Course Starts Tonight
✍️ What Six Weeks Covers
The course runs as a sequence rather than a drop-in, and the first sessions stay on the page before anyone stands up. Premise, tag, act-out and the shape of a tight five all get their own week. Material gets tested on the room and cut in front of everyone, which is the part most people underestimate. Later weeks move to mic work and timing. The final session is a showcase with an audience. Class sizes stay small enough that everyone gets stage time each week.
🏚️ Upstairs on Coral Way
Just The Funny runs its theatre and training centre on the second floor at 3119 Coral Way, a short strip of storefronts west of Brickell. The room is small, black-walled and built for improv rather than a club crowd. A stage this size means the front row is close enough to read your notes. Lighting is simple and the sound rig is a single mic on a stand. A lift and a stairwell both reach the second floor, and doors open ahead of the hour.
📋 Before You Sign Up
The first session runs Wednesday, September 30 from half past seven to ten in the evening. Enrolment covers all six weeks rather than a single night. Bring a notebook, and expect homework between sessions. Street parking on Coral Way turns over fairly quickly in the evening. Anyone looking to watch comedy rather than write it should book one of the theatre nights instead. Late enrolment past the first week is handled case by case. Check the enrolment page for the full session dates before committing.
