Choose from Six Escape Rooms at Del Amo

Pick one of six themed rooms behind a Torrance storefront and spend sixty minutes inside, with the room and group shaping the challenge.

Pick one of six escape rooms at Del Amo.

The Escape Game keeps six rooms behind one storefront at Del Amo Fashion Center. Each one is a full build. A train car with luggage racks and a whistle-signal chart. A log cabin with a lantern over the door. A submarine bay in teal and yellow. Your team goes in and the door locks behind you. Every door also carries an exit button, and the operator's written instructions say you may use it whenever you want to.

Seats are sold per person. That one fact shapes the whole visit. Unless your group buys every spot in the room, the operator can seat strangers on your team. Most rooms hold eight. Playground holds twelve. A party of four books four seats and may meet four more people at the door, or books all eight and keeps the room to itself. One order can carry up to twelve travelers.

Playground Is the Gentlest, Prison Break the Hardest

The operator publishes a difficulty number for every room. Playground sits at six, the lowest of the six; Prison Break sits at nine and carries the operator's own label as its most challenging game. Cosmic Crisis, Timeliner: Train Through Time, The Depths and Gold Rush all sit at seven, and Gold Rush is the room the operator flags for first-timers. Hints are unlimited in every room and carry no penalty for asking, which is what keeps a nine from being a wall. Gold Rush puts you on a plank walkway outside a cabin in the woods, lantern lit. Prison Break starts you in a cell with a striped uniform hanging on the hook. Playground is built in primary colours, with climbing frames, turf and a painted sky.

Eight Seats in Five Rooms, Twelve in Playground

Five of the six rooms cap at eight players. Playground is the only one that holds twelve, which makes it the room for a birthday group or a team that refuses to split. A group of nine has two routes: take Playground, or book two rooms and run them side by side. The booking ceiling of twelve is Playground's ceiling. A party of twelve set on Gold Rush will not fit into a single game.

Thirteen and Up, and Who Needs an Adult in the Room

The operator recommends the games for ages thirteen and up and allows younger players with conditions attached. Anyone fourteen or under needs an adult of eighteen or older playing in the room with them, and anyone under eighteen needs an adult to sign their waiver. Booking counts every guest from age five as a full-fare adult. Service animals are allowed, and infants and small children can ride in a pram. The rooms are listed as wheelchair accessible, and the operator asks that you call the store for the specifics.

Seventy-Five Minutes on the Booking, Sixty in the Room

The listing sells a seventy-five minute slot. The game itself runs sixty minutes, and the operator asks you to arrive fifteen minutes early, which is where the extra quarter hour goes. Waivers are signed digitally before you turn up. That quarter hour is meant for traffic, parking and finding Unit 161. Sign at home and the window is comfortable. Leave it to the door and it is not.

The store is at 3525 W. Carson Street, Unit 161, inside Del Amo Fashion Center, with Outback Steakhouse and Lazy Dog next door and Old Navy across the way. It sits on the lower level in the mall's Outdoor Village section, which the mall also names as the best entrance for it. The operator's own parking note points you at the AMC theatre. Doors open at eight in the morning and stay open until midnight, seven days a week, while the enclosed mall shuts at nine most nights and at seven on Sunday, so an early or late game goes in from the outside rather than through the shops. Cancelling at least twenty-four hours ahead returns the full fare. Food and drink sit outside the ticket, and with Lazy Dog and Outback a few steps from Unit 161, a nine o'clock game and a late dinner make one trip.
