Sip Your Way Through the French Quarter Before Dinner

Eight tastings across four French Quarter stops, four poured and four plated, with stories told on the walks in between.

Sip through the French Quarter before dinner.

A guide walks a small group between French Quarter bars and dining rooms at cocktail hour, telling the neighborhood's history on the stretches between doors. It suits people who want a drink in hand and a feel for the Quarter more than a full meal.

You have to be 21 or older to join, and staff may ask for ID before pouring. Come for the format; the exact bars can shift from night to night.

The ticket covers the eight tastings. Extra drinks are yours to buy, and a 15 to 20 percent tip for the guide is suggested on the booking page.

Four Stops and the Minutes at Each

Cane & Table gets 25 minutes in a candlelit courtyard known for rum-forward, proto-tiki cocktails. Manolito is the quick one: 10 minutes and a Floridita tasting in a small bar built as a tribute to Havana's golden age of cocktails.

Tableau and Napoleon House get 25 minutes each. Tableau, one of Dickie Brennan's restaurants, sits on Jackson Square with a balcony over the square, and Napoleon House fills a building whose oldest parts date to the 1790s, run by Ralph Brennan since 2015. Tableau lists dinner hours Wednesday through Sunday only, while this tour runs every day. Four of five listed venues are promised, and any name here can change.

Where the 165 Minutes Go

The itinerary gives the four stops about 85 of the 165 minutes. The guide uses the walks between them for history told on the street. Tastings are set with no substitutions, and many of the Louisiana dishes include pork.

The pours run generous next to the food, so plan a proper dinner for afterward; one December 2025 traveler called it more of a mixed drink tour. Flag any true food allergy when you book.

Confirm the Meeting Spot Two Days Out

Meet the guide at 12 French Market Pl, under the big arches as you enter the French Quarter. Call the local operator 48 hours ahead to confirm the meeting location, as the booking page asks.

Make that call. The meeting spot has moved at short notice before, and the confirmation is where you catch a change.

Group Size, Access and Refunds

One booking holds up to nine people. The walk is rated suitable for all fitness levels with public transport nearby, per the booking page, and nothing says whether the route is step-free. Ask the operator before booking if anyone in your group uses a wheelchair.

Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund; inside that window there is no refund. The tour can also be called off for poor weather or too few guests.

You finish at 600 Royal St, away from where you started, with the evening still ahead and a short list of bars you have already tried. One October 2025 traveler wrote: "Cane and Table was our favorite and we returned for dinner a few days later."
