This peaceful Buddhist temple is one of only three surviving US examples of its distinct Japanese architectural style.
Description

The temple traces its roots to a sangha started by Japanese immigrants near Thomas Square in 1911, before relocating to its current grounds in the winter of 1912. Active here since 1915, it stands in the urban core within walking distance of Ala Moana Shopping Center, preserved as an artistic landmark and a spiritual temple in central Honolulu.
