Shiba Park
4.2 (17,569)park
One of Japan's oldest parks pairs an ancient burial mound and mature trees with close-up views of Tokyo Tower.
Description

Originally carved from the grounds of Zojoji Temple, the park assumed its current ring-like layout following the postwar separation of church and state. Mature camphor, zelkova, and ginkgo shade its paths, leading to features like Momijidani, an artificial ravine with a 10-meter waterfall, and early athletic facilities dating back to 1902. Across the grounds, the setting is defined by a clear contrast between traditional temple architecture and modern Tokyo Tower looming overhead.
