Seven Weeks of Scenework Ends With a Live Student Show
An improv course on Coral Way builds scenework from scratch across seven weeks and closes with a performance.
🎭 The Thursday Class
🗣️ What the Course Covers
Improv Acting 1 works on scenework, meaning two people building a scene without a script and finding the relationship inside it. Instructors run exercises, stop them partway, and give notes before the next round. The course runs seven weeks and finishes with a live student performance, which gives the whole term a target. It assumes no prior stage experience and starts from listening rather than joke writing.
🏢 In the Room
Classes meet on the second floor at Just The Funny, a working theater with a small black box stage and a wooden floor. Groups run around a dozen people, and everyone is on their feet for most of the session. Students perform for each other rather than an audience during the weekly meetings, which lowers the stakes early. Shoes come off for some exercises, and the room gets warm by the second hour.
📅 Schedule, Cost, and Fit
Thursday, October 1 runs from half past seven until ten in the evening at 3119 Coral Way, second floor, in Miami. Registration goes through the theater, and the term price covers all seven sessions. Missing a week is hard to make up once scene partners are set, worth checking the calendar first. It fits people who want a regular weeknight with the same group. If you were after a one night drop in, this is a full term.
