Art & Music on a Downtown LA Loop

A compact Downtown loop pairing a free contemporary-art museum, a music-history vault, and a restored 1913 theater.

Do all three in one afternoon.

🗺️ Three stops, one mile

🎨 The Broad

The Broad shows contemporary art by Jeff Koons, Yayoi Kusama, and Kara Walker across a naturally lit top floor, and general admission is free. The timed Infinity Mirrored Room releases same-day slots that go quickly. Reserve online before you arrive. Koons's mirror-polished Balloon Dog and Tulips hold the center, while the perforated white veil at 221 South Grand Avenue reads as sculpture from the sidewalk.

🎧 GRAMMY Museum

The GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live gives recorded music several floors, from Selena's award and stage looks to Michael Jackson's signed Thriller jacket. Interactive booths let you mix a track or study vocal phrasing, and rotating exhibits pull from the Recording Academy's archive. It sits on the plaza across from the arena at 800 West Olympic Boulevard, a short walk from the other two stops.

🎭 Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre opened in 1913 on Broadway and now runs as a restored concert and events hall. A gilded coffered ceiling, mirrored anteroom, and hand-painted plasterwork came back through a long renovation after decades of decline. It opens mainly for booked shows rather than daytime tours. Check the calendar at 740 South Broadway before you plan a visit.
