See Lady Liberty Up Close, Then Ellis Island's Great Hall
A licensed New York guide walks you onto both harbor islands, with reserved ferry access and both museum admissions in the ticket.
The Statue of Liberty is visible from half the boats in New York Harbor. Standing underneath it takes a ferry that docks, and Statue City Cruises is the only operator the National Park Service authorizes to run one.

Four hours covers the crossing, Liberty Island, and Ellis Island. The operator is Amigo Tours New York, and a licensed New York City guide holds the group through the security screening and onto the boat, narrating in English and Spanish.
Admission to the Statue of Liberty Museum and the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration is already inside the ticket, along with reserved access to the islands. Hotel pickup, food, and drinks are not.

The ferry lands on Liberty Island first. The statue has stood here since 1886, and the Statue of Liberty Museum, open since May 2019, is covered by the same ferry ticket.
The pedestal and the crown are a separate reservation that this tour does not carry. Crown slots are released months ahead and go at that range, so anyone coming for the climb should secure that first and treat this tour as a different plan.
One more thing to expect. Site regulations mean your guide may not be able to follow you inside the museums. Amigo Tours explains what is in each room outside, then lets you work through it at your own pace.
Ellis Island, Where the Group Loosens Up

Ellis Island is the second stop and the one people underestimate. Between 1892 and 1924 the Registry Room processed the arrivals that built much of the city, and the hall is still the center of the building.
The time printed on a Statue City Cruises ticket is when you join the security queue, not a boat reservation, and the crossing runs as a flexible all-day service. The guided portion is four hours. How long you stay in the museum afterwards is mostly a question of which boat you take back, and the last one off Ellis Island leaves later than the last one out from Manhattan.
A Klook reviewer put the pacing plainly in October 2023: "On paper the tour lasts 4hours. But at the 2nd half at Ellis Island, you could stay there as long as you want."
Two Meeting Points, and Yours Depends on the Option
📍 This is the detail that trips people up, because the tour has two different starting instructions.
- Guided options meet the guide in front of the Starbucks at One Battery Park Plaza, Battery Place. Arrive ten minutes before the start time.
- The self-guided audio option skips the meeting point. Go straight to the ferry entrance and validate the QR code there. Screening and departure sit next to Castle Clinton.
Statue City Cruises is direct about the cutoff. Entry after 2:00 p.m. will not leave enough time to visit both islands.
Two boarding rules catch people out. Return to the side you departed from, and once you step off at the mainland dock the ticket will not take you back on.
Amigo Tours adds one warning worth repeating. Do not accept directions from people on the street around the pier, and contact the operator directly if you cannot find the guide.
Booking, Cancellation, and Who It Suits
Free cancellation runs until 24 hours before departure. Inside that window, and for no-shows, the full price stands.
If your option includes the audio guide, it arrives by email or WhatsApp 24 hours ahead and plays on your own phone, so download it while you still have wifi. It comes in English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.
The booking itself requires an adult of 18 or over, and children travel accompanied.
The guided version carries one real trade-off. The guide delivers everything twice, once in English and once in Spanish, which several travelers found slowed the group down. Reviewers who came for photographs and open time preferred the self-guided audio option for exactly that reason.
The boats run from The Battery, at the southern tip of Manhattan, where the subway lines end and the harbor starts. Take an early boat back and the rest of the afternoon is still Lower Manhattan.
