🗺️ Two stops on the West Side

🎬 Start at the Walter Reade Theater

The Walter Reade Theater on West 65th Street is Film at Lincoln Center's 268-seat house for curated series rather than standard first-run releases. Programs range from classics and silents to foreign and independent films, shown in 35mm and 70mm as well as digital, and screenings often add a filmmaker Q&A or live conversation. Listings change with each series, and not every night offers a suitable evening slot. Check the calendar before planning the rest of the route.

🍷 A French wine bar on West 84th

Vin Sur Vingt is modeled on a neighborhood Parisian bar à vin, with a French wine list and tapas-style plates such as tartines, cassolettes, cheeses and charcuterie. Order by the glass or the bottle, and from 10:00 PM to close any bottle of wine is 25% off. The bar is open from 3:30 PM to 1:00 AM daily. It takes no reservations and seats guests first come, first served. Expect a wait when every table is taken.

🚶 Walk up Columbus Avenue

The walk from Lincoln Square to West 84th Street runs about 20 blocks up Columbus Avenue and takes around 25 minutes, long enough to talk the film through before the first glass. On a cold or wet night, the 1 train from 66 St–Lincoln Center to 86 St covers most of the distance, followed by a walk of about 10 minutes.
