Seattle's Waterfront Ghosts, on an Evening Walk Kids Can Join
A 90-minute all-ages ghost walk from the Union Street waterfront, with stops at Pier 57, Post Alley and a former mortuary.
The walk starts at 8:00 PM on the waterfront at the west end of Union Street and spends about 90 minutes between the piers and Pike Place Market. Ghost City Tours of Seattle runs it under the name The Ghosts of Seattle Tour and builds it around families. Its own page puts the mix at 60 percent history, 30 percent paranormal and 10 percent entertainment.
The operator says its guides tailor the stories to hold younger children without getting too scary. The operator says the stories center on Seattle's pioneers, its prospectors and the fires in its past.

This card books the Family Friendly Ghost Tour in Seattle run by Ghost City Tours of Seattle: one shared 8:00 PM departure a night, led in English. Gratuities are not included.

The booking page names four places. Post Alley, which runs through Pike Place Market, and Pier 57 each get about ten minutes. The walk passes the waterfront near Pier 55 without stopping, and the listing ties that stretch to the bay's maritime legends.
The fourth stop is the Butterworth Building on First Avenue. The listing says it was built as a mortuary and that many consider it one of the city's most haunted buildings. Its 1971 National Register nomination calls it the city's first modern mortuary, designed in 1903 by John Graham Sr. for Edgar R. Butterworth's family business, with stables and hay storage on the alley level. The firm outgrew it and moved out in 1923. The stop gets about ten minutes too.
The listing says the end point can vary from night to night.
Made for Kids, With Stairs to Plan Around

The booking page sells three age bands. Children 5 and under go free, ages 6 to 11 pay a youth rate, and 12 and up pay the adult rate. Every booking needs an adult. The operator's page lists one content note for parents: death and mortality.
Both the booking page and the operator mark the route as stroller-friendly and wheelchair accessible. A traveler reviewing the walk in August 2026 wrote that "the first stop was down a lot of stairs" and advised leaving the stroller behind. The operator's reply thanked them for the heads-up to other families.
The city publishes step-free links for this part of the waterfront. Its waterfront office lists a public elevator at Union Street between Western Avenue and Alaskan Way, open 6 AM to 11 PM, and describes Overlook Walk as a path people can use with strollers or wheelchairs between Pike Place Market and the waterfront. Anyone with a stroller or a wheelchair can ask the guide to use those instead of the stairs.
About a Mile on Foot, Rain or Shine
The operator puts the route at about one mile at a leisurely pace, with several stops along the way and chances to sit for the stories. It runs rain or shine. An umbrella and shoes that cope with wet pavement belong in the bag.
The booking page lets the operator cancel for bad weather or too few travelers, with another date or a full refund offered either way. The operator also calls the walk pet-friendly and welcomes well-behaved dogs on a leash.
Nightly at 8:00 PM, Halloween Included
As of October 21, 2026, the booking calendar sold the 8:00 PM walk every night with no blocked dates. Halloween night was open, and so were dates in January 2027.
Booking closes two hours before the start, and confirmation is instant. Cancel at least 24 hours before the start for a full refund; inside that window the ticket is not refundable.
📍 Meet your guide at the bronze sculpture on the Seattle Waterfront Viewing Deck at the west end of Union Street, 99 Union St, across from the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. Arrive 15 minutes before the 8:00 PM start.
The operator's FAQ still names the Gum Wall in Post Alley as the meeting spot. The booking page and the meeting-point section of the operator's own tour page both give 99 Union St, and that is the address to walk to. Parking downtown is scarce, and the operator recommends transit or a rideshare. The city lists Waterfront Park's public restrooms as open 8 AM to 7 PM outside the Memorial Day to Labor Day season and until 10 PM in summer, so for most of the year they are closed by the 8:00 PM start.
Of the operator's three Seattle walks, this is the one a whole family can book together. The other two are for ages 16 and up and 21 and up.
