Closed to the public except during special events and escorted tours held on the last Saturday of each month (excluding December).
Tucked within a naval weapons station, this coastal wetland offers safe haven to rare shorebirds and sea turtles.
Description

Spanning salt marsh and tidal channels in Orange County, the habitat serves as a stopover and wintering ground along the Pacific Flyway for thousands of migratory waterfowl. It also provides protected nesting territory for threatened species, including California least terns. Due to the military mission of the station, the refuge is generally closed to the public except during escorted tours held on the last Saturday of each month.
