Sartor House
5.0 (1)attraction
An 1882 Victorian home by architect Alfred Giles, featuring soft caliche walls, Gothic accents, and a deep verandah.
Description

Built for jeweler Alexander Sartor, this residence represents a smaller-scale commission from Alfred Giles, an architect better known for grander projects. Along the street front, five large windows open onto the porch. The caliche block walls are stuccoed to imitate ashlar masonry with protruding mortar joints, while a central pediment with a hanging pendant framing the front door brings out the home's Gothic styling, complemented by dentil molding and arched openings.
