Description

Developed by the Los Angeles County Flood Control District as compensatory mitigation for dam riser modifications and sediment removal, the project transformed Arcadia's Santa Anita Lower Sediment Placement Site. The terrain divides into 5.5 acres of oak woodland and 2.5 acres of coastal sage scrub, established where vegetation was previously absent. The grounds now support over 155 native plant species and 120 native vertebrate wildlife species, including bobcats, foxes, deer, and raptors.
