Salome — live performance at McCaw Hall

Richard Strauss's Salome adapts Oscar Wilde's play into a one-act tragedy of biblical proportions: a lecherous king, a willful princess, an unyielding prophet, and a dance that still scandalizes. Since its 1905 premiere, it's thrilled audiences with its power struggle and dangerous obsession. This Seattle Opera production features Grammy-nominated Brenda Rae in her title-role debut, praised for her 'tireless golden soprano,' and Chad Shelton as King Herod, bringing 'thrilling tone and technical precision.' Sets come from award-winning designer Leslie Travers. Sung in German.
