Salem's 9 PM Ghost Walk Follows a Lantern From Essex Street
A late ghost walk through downtown Salem, pitched by its operator as more eerie than terrifying and told entirely outdoors.
Salem Ghosts, the Salem arm of US Ghost Adventures, runs several walks through downtown Salem each night. This is its late one. The booking page sells a single 9:00 PM start, and the walk lasts 90 minutes.
The operator pitches its Salem tours as more eerie than terrifying and says they lean on history, atmosphere and local accounts. The walk never goes inside a building. Every story is told out on the street.

The booking covers the walk and a local guide. Tips are extra, and the operator takes them in cash or through Venmo, Cash App or Apple Pay.

The meeting point is outside Salem Five Savings Bank at 210 Essex Street. The guide wears a black US Ghost Adventures T-shirt and carries a lantern. The listing asks you to arrive 15 minutes before the start, and check-in works by giving the guide the name on the booking.
Online booking closes ten hours before departure, which for the 9:00 PM walk means 11:00 AM the same day. The listing has no child rate. Everyone from age one up books the same ticket, and one booking takes up to eight people. The listing allows up to 50 travelers on a departure, and the operator's own booking system caps one at 40.
Two Lists of Stops, Both Written as Examples

Treat the two stop lists for this walk as examples, not a fixed route. The booking page names the Witch History Museum, the Salem Wax Museum, the Bewitched statue and Charter Street Cemetery, and marks each as a place the walk passes without stopping. The operator's reservation page names Old Town Hall, the Joshua Ward House, Wicked Good Books and The Salem Inn as highlights the walk may include.
Old Town Hall, built in 1816, is now used by the city as a cultural and rental hall, and the city's own events page mentions "the constant parade of ghost tours outside our doors." The Joshua Ward House on Washington Street is now The Merchant, a boutique hotel. The Salem Inn's room listings bill Room W17 as "The Haunted Room." Wicked Good Books has moved to 260 Essex Street, where it shares a shop with the Silly Bunny toy store.
The operator says this late walk takes in more historic sites than its one-hour Salem tour, and its Salem page places its tours around the Burying Point, the former home of Judge Corwin, The Salem Inn and the Ropes Mansion. Judge Jonathan Corwin's former home is the Witch House on Essex Street. That Burying Point is Charter Street Cemetery, which was often known as the Old Burying Point. The cemetery's October page says it closes at 5:00 PM, and Salem's rules for licensed guides bar tours in a public cemetery after dusk, so a 9:00 PM walk can only pass it from outside.
On Foot for 90 Minutes, With Stops to Listen
This is a walk with frequent stops to listen. The operator gives two distances for it: about a mile on its reservation page and 1.5 miles on its Salem tour card. Wear comfortable shoes, which the operator recommends, and dress for the weather. Tours run rain or shine.
Two reviewers on this listing in June 2025 wrote that people at the back of the group missed parts of the stories while the group was moving. Walk near the front to catch more of each story. Expect company at some stops, too. Reviewers in 2025 also mentioned other tour groups at the same locations.
Wheelchairs, Kids, Dogs and Cameras
The listing marks this walk as wheelchair and stroller accessible. The operator's own FAQ says not all of its tours are wheelchair accessible and asks guests to confirm a specific tour with it before booking. A wheelchair user should get that confirmation before booking.
The operator calls its ghost tours family-friendly and welcomes dogs that do not disrupt the group. The listing itself mentions only service animals. Photos are encouraged, but the operator asks guests not to record video. Drinking and smoking are not allowed on the walk.
Through this booking, cancelling at least 24 hours before the start brings a full refund, and cancelling later brings nothing back. The operator's own direct-booking terms are stricter, with no refunds within six days of the tour, and it says it will contact guests if a tour has to be cancelled. Its reservation page also rents EMF detectors, which this listing does not include.
Pack a warm layer for the walk. As one September 2025 reviewer put it, "bring cold weather gear cause it does get chilly."
