Salem on Halloween Weekend, From Olde Main Street Pub to Bit Bar

A guide walks your group alone through four Salem bars on Halloween weekend, from Essex Street to an arcade bar on Derby Street.

This crawl runs on three nights only: Friday, October 30, Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, 2026. Starts are at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 PM, and the night lasts about three hours. It is a private booking, so the guide walks with your group and nobody else.

The listing's route starts at the fountain in East India Square, on Essex Street. From there it goes to Olde Main Street Pub, then to the bar inside the Hawthorne Hotel, then down to Derby Street for All Souls Lounge and Bit Bar, where it ends. The booking pays for the guide and the route. Food and drinks at every stop are on you.

The listing adds that venues may change with availability, each swapped for one of the same type.

As of October 21, 2026, the booking calendar priced this per person on a sliding scale: USD 1,531 for one traveler, USD 766 each for two, USD 510 each for three, USD 382 each for four, and USD 306 each for five to eight. From one to four people the total stays close to USD 1,530, so the price per head only drops as the group grows. One booking holds up to eight people, and everyone has to be 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID.

An Irish Pub, Then a Hotel Tavern on Salem Common

The first bar is Olde Main Street Pub at 121 Essex Street, which bills itself as an Irish pub. The listing credits it with more than 20 local and international beers on draught and comfort food made from scratch, and gives it about 40 minutes.

Next is the Hawthorne Hotel, overlooking Salem Common. The hotel describes its Tavern with a wood-burning fireplace, oak-paneled walls, winged-back chairs and views of the Common, and it lists the bar as open until 11:00 PM every day. On the listing's own stop timings, even the 9:00 PM start reaches the hotel before 10:00 PM, inside those hours.

Derby Street, a Vinyl Lounge and a Room of Pinball

The second half of the night is on Derby Street. All Souls Lounge gives its address as 282 Derby Street, and the listing describes it as an eclectic neighborhood lounge with classic cocktails, a CD jukebox and an extensive vinyl collection. On its own site, the lounge says it is 21+ after 9:00 PM and asks guests to be ready to show a valid US driver's license, a military ID or a passport to get in.

The crawl ends next door at Bit Bar, 278 Derby Street, an arcade bar that dates itself to 2016. The listing counts more than 50 classic arcade and pinball machines there. Bit Bar is 21+ after 8:00 PM, which matches the age rule for this crawl anyway. The route does not loop back to the fountain.

No Tables Held on Halloween Weekend

These three nights are Salem's Halloween weekend, with Halloween itself on the Saturday. On the two October nights, all four bars run on walk-ins by their own account. Olde Main Street Pub and Bit Bar take no reservations in October, and the Hawthorne Hotel limits dining to walk-ins for the whole month. All Souls Lounge takes no reservations at any time, and warns that it cannot always fit large parties.

The booking covers a guide and a route, and no table is held at the walk-in bars. That is also where the listing's swap rule comes in: a stop can be replaced by another of the same type, depending on availability.

Getting Back to Boston Before the Last Train

Destination Salem's Haunted Happenings site is plain about October: visitors should not plan to drive into downtown Salem, especially on weekends, and police can close roads at any point for safety. It points instead to the MBTA Commuter Rail on the Newburyport/Rockport Line, about 30 minutes from Boston's North Station, and lists set pickup spots for rideshare and taxis.

As of October 21, 2026, the MBTA's published schedule shows the last train from Salem to Boston at 11:02 PM on Friday, October 30, and 11:01 PM on Saturday and Sunday. If you are riding back to Boston, only the 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM starts end early enough to make that train.

📍 Meet the guide at the fountain in the center of East India Square, which the listing places at 158 Essex Street.
