A wooded Potomac island where peaceful footpaths lead to a monumental bronze tribute to Theodore Roosevelt.
Description

Reached via a pedestrian footbridge from the George Washington Memorial Parkway, this national memorial spans nearly 90 acres of dense woods, marshlands, and unpaved trails. Paths loop through the greenery with river views before converging on a cleared clearing. At the center, a 17-foot bronze statue of the conservationist president is framed by two large fountains and monolithic stone tablets inscribed with his quotes.
