Description

After visiting Paris in 1924, cinema magnate Jules Mastbaum acquired over 150 sculptures by Auguste Rodin and commissioned French architects Paul Philippe Cret and Jacques Gréber to create a dedicated home for them along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Opened in 1929 and administered by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the venue presents major works such as The Gates of Hell and The Burghers of Calais across indoor galleries and the Dorrance H. Hamilton Garden, alongside The Thinker.
