Description

Miami-Dade County and conservationists mobilized in 1985 to shield the tract from planned road construction and busways. The effort followed the discovery of the endangered deltoid spurge, which grows only in the lime rock of Rockridge pinelands. Today, the Environmentally Endangered Lands Program oversees the property, keeping the surviving native pineland ecosystem protected.
