Rockaway Beach

Often noted as a cleaner, less crowded alternative to Coney Island, this modernized strip of coast offers plenty of space and clean water. Keep in mind that strong currents can sometimes limit swimming, meaning plans might skew more toward lounging than wading. Spaced along the park are various bars and places to eat, while the area near Beach 60th provides a playground, restrooms, and a lifeguard station. Access to the beach is entirely free, with public showers and restrooms available for drying off.
