Robinson's No. 1 Ribs
3.5 (400)restaurant
$3.95 – $8.95
An Oak Park barbecue spot built on a 200-year-old family sauce that famously won Mike Royko's 1982 Ribfest.
Description

Charlie Robinson brought his culinary foundation from Lambert, Mississippi, spending long hours in his Oak Park kitchen cooking, adjusting, substituting, and testing to refine the inherited sauce. When syndicated Chicago columnist Mike Royko publicly boasted that he made the best ribs anywhere, Robinson entered the contest. An impartial judging panel declared Royko’s ribs far inferior to Robinson's entry, providing the runaway victory that cemented his local standing.
