Roast Night, Then Two Very Different Los Angeles Stages

A comedy roast in Echo Park, a stage concert at the Peacock, and a Korean cultural program at the Wilshire Ebell: three Los Angeles rooms in four nights.

Three rooms, four nights.

🎷 The week in three rooms

Overheard LA brings its roast format to the Elysian on Thursday, the Pretty Derby world tour takes the Peacock Theater on Friday, and LA Voices fills the Wilshire Ebell on Sunday afternoon.

🎤 Picking the room that fits

The Elysian is a comedy room first, and the roast format means the audience is part of the material. The Peacock is the opposite scale: a touring production with a full stage, a seated house, and a crowd that arrives in cosplay and stays for the encore. The Wilshire Ebell is the quiet end, a cultural program with speeches, performances, and a program you read between acts. Thursday is the loud one; Sunday is the one to dress for. All three are within a twenty-minute drive of each other on a good night, which in Los Angeles is the only promise worth making. Book the Peacock seat early, because touring productions there sell in blocks rather than singles.
