Rise Off a Boat Deck Above Ka'anapali, Land Back Dry
One flight each off a shared boat at Ka'anapali Beach: about six minutes on 800 feet of line or nine on 1,200, dip optional.
UFO Parasail checks you in on the sand in front of Whalers Village, then runs the whole flight off the back of its boat. A winch lets you out from a flat deck and reels you back onto it, so there is no beach takeoff and no swimming required. Each flyer goes up once, alone or two or three side by side, in a life vest the whole time.

The listing sells three seats: the 800-foot line, the 1,200-foot line, and an observer seat for someone who rides along without flying. Prices are per person, and the operator asks you to book two seats for a tandem and three for a triple. The cheapest seat on the listing is the observer's, which does not include a flight.

The line sets the airtime. The listing and the operator both give roughly six minutes in the air on 800 feet of line and roughly nine on 1,200 feet of line, inside a boat ride of 40 to 60 minutes. The boat is shared, so part of the hour is spent on deck watching the other flyers take their turns. The operator's own page caps a shared trip at nine guests on boats that can carry twelve; the listing text says eight.
If you want to get wet, ask the captain for a dip. The boat slows so your feet and legs touch the Pacific before the winch pulls you back up. It is optional and depends on the wind, and you can stay dry the whole way.
Flying Solo Takes 160 Pounds

To fly alone you must weigh at least 160 pounds, and the operator says it will not pair you with someone from another booking to reach that number. Its advice for anyone lighter is to bring someone to fly with. Tandem and triple flights have a combined limit of roughly 450 to 550 pounds, set on the day by wind and sea, and the captain can raise or lower any of these limits.
Everyone aboard, flyer or observer, must be at least five, and anyone under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian to sign the waiver. The listing calls the trip not recommended in pregnancy or for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. The operator's FAQ is firmer on pregnancy: expectant mothers may not fly or ride along as boat passengers.
Mornings Ride Smoother, and the Season Ends December 14
The operator recommends the early departures. Trade winds usually build in the afternoon, so morning trips ride smoother and suit children, first-timers and anyone prone to seasickness. If the captain judges wind, swell or storms unsafe, the trip is cancelled, and the operator says it will first try to move you to a later day of your stay and refund you in full if that does not fit.
On Maui this flight runs only from May 16 to December 14. Hawaii state boating rules bar parasailing off West and South Maui from December 15 to May 15, during humpback whale season, and the booking calendar has no dates in that window.
Finding the Blue Umbrellas
📍 Check in on the sand of Ka'anapali Beach directly in front of Leilani's on the Beach, the restaurant at Whalers Village, and look for the bright blue UFO Parasail umbrellas and beach staff. Arrive 30 minutes before your time. Hotel pickup is not included.
Parking in the Whalers Village garage is USD 8 an hour, up to USD 50 a day. A minimum purchase at its shops or restaurants gets the ticket validated, which the listing says lowers the rate. Wear swimwear, or shorts and a T-shirt, and bring a light layer for the morning breeze. Pack mineral sunscreen only: Maui County law bars anyone from applying sunscreen with active ingredients other than zinc oxide or titanium dioxide unless it was prescribed. No shoes are worn in the air, so sandals are enough for the beach.
- Gratuities are not included.
- Photos cost extra: the crew shoots each flight on a long lens and texts a link to watermarked proofs within 24 hours, then sells the high-resolution set.
- A personal camera or GoPro needs a secure wrist strap; anything dropped in the ocean cannot be recovered.
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund; inside 24 hours this booking is not refundable. Observers ride the boat but never fly, and each must come with a paying parasailer. Take an early slot, and once the line pays out, the Maui coastline spreads out below you.
