Description

Originally opened as Colored School No. 1 in Election District 13, the school served Ridgeley's African American community through a Rosenwald Foundation grant. It was one of nearly 5,000 schools built for African American children in the South. Although it closed in 1954, the structure remained intact. Following restoration, it showcases its original design elements as one of nine remaining Rosenwald schools in Prince George’s County.
