Ride the Long Downhill From Mt. Soledad to Windansea Beach
A two-hour guided e-bike loop from La Jolla Village: up to the Mt. Soledad memorial, then down the coast to the Cove.
Riders call the Plunge the long downhill run off Mt. Soledad, and that descent gives the two hours their shape. You leave La Jolla Village, let the motor carry you up to the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial, then roll back down through Bird Rock and Windansea and along the water to La Jolla Cove.
The listing books one stop: ten minutes at the memorial on top. Everything else on the route is ridden past. The operator's own page adds brief pauses at Windansea and the Children's Pool. Expect views from the saddle, with the landmark hotel, the museum and the cave shop seen from the street.

Everything on the card below comes with the ticket: the e-bike, a helmet, the guide's narration, bottled water and a small snack. The tip is extra.

From the summit the route drops toward the ocean and then runs beside it. Bird Rock, Windansea and Law Street are all pass-bys on the listing. The operator's page describes a brief pause at Windansea, a local favorite known for powerful surf, and a short stop at the Children's Pool.
The Children's Pool is the small beach sheltered by a concrete breakwater built in 1931. The operator's page says sea lions often lounge on the sand there; the city's lifeguard page calls it a viewing area for harbor seals and says sea lions haul out only occasionally. From December 15 to May 15, the harbor seal pupping season, the city closes that beach to the public. One rider remembered the guide sharing "some secret beach access points" on the coastal half of the ride.
The Cove's Caves and the Pink Lady, From the Street

The last stretch runs along the village edge of La Jolla Cove. The listing names what you pass there: La Valencia, the pink hotel open since 1926 that the listing calls the Pink Lady; the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; George's at the Cove; and the Cave Store, where a tunnel dug in 1902 leads down into Sunny Jim's Sea Cave. Each of those is marked as a pass-by, so going inside the museum or down the cave tunnel sits outside this booking.
The cove itself sits inside a marine reserve popular with snorkelers, swimmers and divers.
The Motor Handles the Hills, but You Share the Road
Several riders describe the e-bikes as strong enough to make the hills easy, and one wrote that the electric throttle powered them through the big ones. The road is a different matter. A rider in 2025 found few dedicated bike lanes and said the busy streets would have felt dicey without the guide. Another, in 2024, found bike lanes on some stretches and plenty of room on the road where they ran out.
The listing asks for at least a moderate level of fitness and does not recommend it for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or a pregnancy. The operator's own page pitches it to beginners and experienced cyclists alike, with one firm condition: riders need to be able to ride a bicycle confidently. A 70-year-old rider wrote that the e-bike took some getting used to after a plain bike, then turned easy to operate.
Who Can Book, and When You Can Still Cancel
This listing sells one ticket type, for riders aged 13 to 99, and its calendar only accepts bookings of two riders or more, so a solo traveler cannot book it alone. The operator's own page sets its age floor at 12, but this listing has no ticket for a 12-year-old.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the start for a full refund; inside 24 hours the listing refunds nothing. The operator's own site runs a stricter seven-day rule for bookings made directly with it. The listing makes no promise to cancel for bad weather, and the operator says the ride goes out in most conditions. It suggests bringing a hoodie.
📍 Meet at the operator's La Jolla office, 7734 Herschel Ave, Suite J, in the village. The listing asks you to allow at least 30 minutes of extra time because traffic and parking get tight in La Jolla on weekends, holidays and in high season, and it names a ride-share as the preferred way to arrive. One visitor put the ride-share from downtown San Diego at about 30 minutes. The listing gives the same spot for the start and the end.
Starts run on the hour from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A rider who went in November suggested the 3:00 PM start for a finish near sunset.
