Ride NYC's East River for $5, Then Eat in Astoria
A commuter deck, an open upper level and a route that runs under the bridges: the Astoria line turns a crossing into the night out, with dinner a short walk from the landing.
🧭 Pier 11 to Astoria on One Line
⛴️ The Boat Leaves From Pier 11
NYC Ferry's Astoria line loads at Pier 11, on South Street between Wall Street and Gouverneur Lane. A ride is $5, bought in the app or at a landing ticket machine, and a round trip is two tickets: the free 120-minute transfer applies to a change onto another route, not to the same line back. Published times are departure times, so be at the gate ten minutes early and take the Manhattan side for the skyline.

🌮 Tacos Past the Boulevard
Step off at 3-10 Astoria Boulevard and walk east to 28-02 21st Street: half a mile, about eleven minutes. Astoria Taco Factory serves 10 am to 11 pm every day, counter service with tacos, burritos, margaritas and a few outdoor tables. Order at the register and take it outside.

💵 Timing the Light and the Return
Sunset is 5:55 pm on October 30 and 4:51 pm on November 2. The winter timetable starts November 2: the boat to take is the 4:13 pm weekday sailing from Pier 11 (Astoria at 5:02), or the 4:10 pm weekend one, which docks at 5:03 just after the sun. Coming back, the last boat leaves Astoria at 8:31 pm on weekdays and 8:24 pm on weekends. November 7, November 28 and December 19 run a modified weekend timetable, so check the app.
