Regenstein Center for African Apes

The facility lays out indoor and outdoor environments for endangered chimpanzees and western lowland gorillas, arranged with fallen logs, water features, and dozens of trees. Behind the scenes, the building also functions as an active scientific base, housing Lincoln Park Zoo’s Project ChimpCARE alongside the Lester E. Fisher Center for the Study and Conservation of Apes, which conducts great ape cognition research.
