Description

Set in the Santa Maria Valley between coastal mesas and rocky mountain outcrops, the preserve covers 3,867 acres, though part of the land remains closed to protect sensitive resources. Exploring happens on foot, bike, or horseback across a 4-mile loop trail system linking the Meadow and Wildflower loops, with options for docent-led interpretive excursions. Santa Maria Creek runs through the grounds, supporting a mosaic of wetlands, vernal pools, and coastal sage scrub noted for birdwatching and hundreds of native species.
