Organized into seven thematic sections, the exhibition traces the evolution of ragtime from West African rhythms and European musical traditions through its rise to mainstream popularity and its crossover into Broadway, film, and jazz. The display is anchored by selections from The John Davis Collection of Early Printed Musical African Americana alongside works from the Morgan's holdings and private collections.
