Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve
4.6 (968)park
Trails climb through cool canyons to wide bay views at this Peninsula preserve, home to a dedicated off-leash dog area.
Description

Spread across 366 acres near San Carlos, the property was formerly the site of the Hassler Health Home, a San Francisco-owned tuberculosis sanitarium before Midpen purchased the land in 1983. Observant hikers along the preserve’s six miles of trails can still find surviving traces of the facility, including rock retaining walls and building remnants. The quiet terrain also calls for a little caution, with rattlesnakes and poison oak present across the preserve.
