A 340-ton granite boulder suspended over a concrete trench at LACMA, inviting visitors to walk directly beneath it.
Description

Created in 2012 by artist Michael Heizer, the installation centers on a diorite-granite megalith transported from a quarry in Riverside County. It sits positioned over a 456-foot-long reinforced concrete slot that gradually deepens from ground level to 15 feet below the stone, shifting perspectives overhead as you walk the length of the trench.
