Perched on the peninsula's edge, this 1926 coastal beacon offers sweeping Pacific views and prime whale-watching.
Description

Standing at the most southwesterly point of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, the station marks the northern end of the Catalina Channel for coastal mariners. Its 67-foot tower once cast the brightest light in Southern California thanks to a hand-ground Paris lens, earning a listing on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1979. While the grounds are normally closed to the public, the tower and a small museum open monthly.
