Play Vintage Pinball for 25¢, Then See the Vegas Welcome Sign at Night

A nonprofit hall where a quarter still buys a play on a 1950s table, a short walk from the sign that has greeted Strip arrivals since 1959.

Quarters first, then the neon sign.

🕹️ Start where the machines still take quarters

Admission is free and every machine takes its own coins. The collectors club keeps hundreds of games here, from 1950s woodrails to 1990s dot-matrix tables, in a purpose-built hall that opened in April 2021. Older pinballs are set to 25 cents a play, newer 1990s models to 50. Hours are 10 am to 9 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 10 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. Nothing is charged at the door, so an hour or two of play costs pocket change.

📸 Walk south to the 1959 sign

Betty Willis designed the sign for Clark County in 1959. It still stands in the median of Las Vegas Boulevard, 25 feet tall, lit from inside, with yellow bulbs chasing the edge, and it joined the National Register in 2009. Walking down from the hall brings you to its back face first, the one that reads Drive Carefully, Come Back Soon. Cross at the signalized crosswalk beside the viewing area rather than mid-block. In the half hour after sunset the sky still holds colour and the bulbs are already lit, which is when the panel photographs best.

🌙 Two stops, one loop, no cover charge

Sunset sets the schedule: it lands between 4:26 pm in early December and 8:02 pm at the end of June, so aim to arrive two hours before it does. An hour or two of play, then a five- to ten-minute walk south, roughly 500 metres, crossing at the signal into the median lot where the viewing area sits. Afterwards, walk north back to the car you left at the hall. The evening costs whatever you feed the machines and nothing else.
