Plant Based Dining Meets Immersive Listening in Gowanus
Dinner and late night sound share a former ASPCA building in Brooklyn.
🎧 Listening Rooms, Two Ways
Public Records fills a former ASPCA building at 233 Butler Street in Gowanus, and the plant based Atrium restaurant handles dinner. The menu runs from focaccia to Hawaji carrots and a kelp wonton dish, with wine and cocktails alongside. A daytime cafe and an open air plant nursery for outdoor events round out the five areas.
The sound side splits in two. UPSTAIRS is an intimate listening lounge and cocktail bar, while the Sound Room was built as a sonically immersive live and club venue with sets by resident DJs. Plenty of nights move from dinner downstairs to drinks upstairs, then on to a set.
Doors open at 6 PM Wednesday through Friday and at 10 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday close at 10 PM, Sunday wraps at 9 PM, and Friday and Saturday run until 4 AM. Monday and Tuesday stay closed. Founded in 2017, the complex pairs experimental design with sound focused programming.
