Pizzitola’s Heritage BBQ

Originally founded by John and Leila Davis as Shepherd Drive Barbecue, the smokehouse passed to Jerry Pizzitola in 1983 and is run today by James Maida and Tim Taylor. The pits keep seasoning straightforward with salt, black pepper, and fire. Beyond the signature ribs, the kitchen serves up the rest of the Texas trinity with brisket and sausage, alongside dishes like brisket queso and desserts. The setup also skips the usual barbecue line, opting instead for friendly, sit-down table service from a long-serving crew.
