Pismo Beach to Shell Beach Along the Coast, by E-Bike
A self-guided hour on a rented e-bike from downtown Pismo Beach, pointed north along the coast toward Shell Beach.
This is a rental, not a tour. You get an electric bike, a helmet and sixty minutes, and once the staff have fitted the bike and walked you through it, the route is yours. The listing points two ways out of the shop: north along the coast to Dinosaur Caves Park and the shops of Shell Beach, or east past rolling hills and vineyards to Old Edna, where it names a deli and a wine tasting room.
On the one-hour booking, the coast run toward Shell Beach is the right scale. Reviewers who carried on to Avila Beach describe that ride as an hour and a half to two hours.

The booking covers the bike for an hour plus a helmet, a lock and a front basket, at USD 40 per adult. The listing names the bikes as Pedego electric bikes and says the fleet can easily take you up to 30 miles. Start times run every half hour from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and confirmation is instant.

The listing asks you to arrive 20 minutes before your start time, which covers check-in, adjusting the bike and a run through the controls. Reviewers single that part out. One wrote in March 2026 that the staff "explained how to use the electric bike and were very patient with me." Another wrote in June 2025 that the shop gave them "the stops to plug into our phones to make navigation easy."
After that you ride on your own. A reviewer in October 2025 wrote that the staff "even gave us a route to take which took us along breathtaking ocean views," and one in September 2024 found the bikes had "good power even on slopes and climbs."
North Along the Coast, and Where to Turn Back

Heading north, the listing's stops are Dinosaur Caves Park and the shops of Shell Beach, with places along the way for coffee, a cocktail or a meal. Avila Beach sits further up the coast, and the riders who reached it took longer than this booking allows. One couple wrote in July 2023 that the round trip took them two hours, hotel stop included. A rider on the one-hour booking wrote in September 2026, "I could have gone all day and ridden to Avila!"
The listing is plain about the roads. Routes use city streets alongside traffic, with and without bike lanes, and traffic runs heavier in summer and on weekends, especially on the frontage road between Shell Beach and Avila Beach. Riders should be comfortable sharing the road and turning across traffic.
Who Rides, and Who Rides Along
Riders need to be 13 or older, able to ride a bike, and within the listing's 250-pound limit. A child riding their own e-bike needs a parent on the ride and has to be able to touch the ground and fully control the bike, hand brakes and throttle included. The listing adds that e-bikes are heavier and faster than pedal bikes, asks for at least a moderate level of fitness, and does not recommend the ride for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
Younger children come along instead of riding. Infant and toddler seats take one child up to 40 pounds and 43 inches tall, and pull-behind trailers take one or two children under 40 pounds each. The booking has three price tiers: adults 18 to 80 at USD 40, children 2 to 6 at USD 20 and infants at USD 15. None of them fits the 13-to-17 riders the listing allows.

📍 The shop sits on Dolliver Street in downtown Pismo Beach, next to Wink and across from Tito's, and the hour ends back there. Parking by the shop is tight. The listing sends drivers to the Veterans' Hall lot at 780 Bello Street, a three-minute walk away through a short walkway tunnel lined with murals.
