Phantom Lifeguards and Pier Ghosts, an Hour Around Jax Beach

A guide with a lantern walks you past Jax Beach's lifeguard station, Seawalk Pavilion and pier, telling the stories behind them.

The walk starts on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach, where a guide in a black US Ghost Adventures T-shirt waits with a lantern. Over about an hour the group covers roughly a mile, stopping outside oceanfront landmarks and a few places a short way inland while the guide tells their stories. Nobody goes inside a building; every story is told from outside.

The operator calls the tour more eerie than terrifying, with the weight on history, atmosphere and real accounts. Expect a history walk with a chill running through it.

The ticket covers the guided walk, with fees and taxes included. Tips for the guide come on top, and the operator accepts them through Cash App, Venmo or Apple Pay as well as in cash. Every ticket on this listing is an adult ticket for ages 13 and up.

From the Lifeguard Station to the Beaches Museum

The booking page lays out the route as the beach itself, the lifeguard station on Ocean Front North, Seawalk Pavilion, the Jacksonville Beach Pier, the Casa Marina Hotel on 1st Street North, The Ritz on 3rd Avenue North and the Beaches Museum on Beach Boulevard, with seven or eight minutes at each stop. The operator lists its own highlights as stops the walk may include, so read the order as the usual route, with room to change.

The lifeguard station is the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps Station. According to the Beaches Museum, the current station was in full operation by 1948; it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, and the city's ocean rescue lifeguards still work from it. The Casa Marina says it opened on June 6, 1925, the same day the town was renamed Jacksonville Beach. The museum itself closes at 4:00 PM, well before the walk passes.

The stories the listing attaches to these places run from lifeguards said to keep watch long after their time to hotel guests who never checked out. At the pier, the tale is about the dark water and the lives it has claimed.

History First, Scares Second

Travelers who have reviewed this walk keep coming back to the guides' local knowledge, from how early Jacksonville was founded to the town's Hollywood connections. Several wanted more scares than they got, which matches how the operator describes the tour.

Groups can run large. One traveler counted 26 people at the start of a 2024 walk, and others found the guide hard to hear from the back. Stay close to the lantern. Two travelers also left with restaurant recommendations for the rest of the evening.

Weather, Smoking, Dogs and Access

The walk runs rain or shine, and the operator says it will contact you if it has to cancel a tour. Smoking is not allowed on the tour, and the operator asks guests not to talk while the guide is telling a story. The operator also welcomes dogs as long as they do not disrupt the group, though city rules ban pets other than service animals on the pier itself.

The listing marks the route as wheelchair accessible, yet it also asks for at least moderate fitness and advises against the tour for anyone with poor cardiovascular health. The operator's own FAQ says not all of its tours are wheelchair accessible and recommends contacting it to confirm. It describes this walk's pace as relaxed, with frequent stops.

The 24-Hour Line and Halloween Night

On this listing a full refund needs at least 24 hours' notice before the start, and later cancellations get nothing back. The listing has no weather exception, and the walk goes ahead in rain. Booking on this listing closes three hours before each start.

As of October 22, 2026, both the 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM walks on October 31 still showed open seats. On October 30, the city's free Moonlight Movie plays at Latham Plaza and Seawalk Pavilion from 7:15 PM to 8:45 PM.

Through November 1, 2026, the city charges for parking in the Latham Plaza and pier lots on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, at USD 4 for the first two hours, by card or app only.
